Blended Paediatric First Aid (12 Hours - Meets EYFS Statutory Framework)
Under the updated EYFS 2025 framework,
At least one staff member with a current Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate must be on-site at all times and accompany children on outings.
Staff holding Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualifications since 30 June 2016 must obtain a PFA certificate within three months of starting work to count in the required staff-to-child ratios, and all certificates must be renewed every three years.
Providers should ensure the number of trained staff matches the setting’s size and layout, and display or make available staff PFA certificates for parents.
Courses must meet Annexe A criteria and can be provided by approved trade bodies, voluntary aid societies, or Ofqual-regulated providers following HSE guidance.

The two day Paediatric First Aid course is ideal for anybody working or intending to work within a Childcare setting looking to improve their First Aid skills and gain a credible certification to show for it. Furthermore, attending and completing the Paediatric First Aid course may be mandatory for your workplace in order to comply with the requirements and guidelines set out by OFSTED and the EYFS (As defined within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stages 2014 and within the Child Care Register guide). Typically meaning the Paediatric First Aid is essential for Nurseries, Schools, Pre-Schools, Childminders, and Carers.

In order to complete this course, there will be a range of methods used to demonstrate your knowledge after being taught throughout the First Aid course, this includes practical real-life scenario examples and questioning. The final examination will be multiple choice and open questions. Upon successful completion of this course, each delegate will have the knowledge, confidence, and certification to be a responsible First Aider in their workplace.
Your First Aid certificate will expire three years after the date of completion. However, for this course, annual refresher training is recommended by the HSE each year between the three years.
