Our Story | Thirty years on the front line, then a classroom
Ian Bryan spent more than thirty years as an NHS paramedic, on the road with West Midlands Ambulance Service and in the air with County Air Ambulance.
Over that time he saw the same pattern repeatedly. The outcome of a serious incident is often decided in the minutes before an ambulance arrives, by whoever happens to be standing there.
He started Staffordshire First Aid Training in 2012 to put proper training in front of those people. Not the people who would be handling emergencies professionally, but the nursery assistant, the site foreman, the shop supervisor who finds themselves first on scene.
The business has grown since, and now forms part of Safe Haven Training Ltd, which delivers across the UK. It remains family run, and the approach has not changed.

Our instructors are qualified emergency care professionals first and trainers second. The team includes current NHS staff, first responders and Level 3 First Response Emergency Care specialists, alongside former firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
This matters more than it might sound. A trainer who has performed CPR on a real patient teaches it differently. They know which part learners get wrong under pressure, what a chest actually feels like, and why the textbook sequence sometimes has to bend.
